A group of concerned citizens from the Katahdin Region gathered when they identified needs in our region stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. A coalition was formed, and Mobilize Katahdin was created to help our friends and neighbors with their immediate needs as they arise. That coalition has now grown to over 40 members made up of local agencies who want to get involved and aid in the assistance to local residents. Members of the coalition meet virtually bi-weekly to receive updates, discuss needs and brainstorm ways to better serve those in need in the Katahdin region. If you are interested in getting involved with the Mobilize Katahdin Coalition, contact me to be invited to participate in the coalition meetings.
Mobilize Katahdin is currently working on adding transportation to it’s services to better assist Katahdin region residents in this much needed area that is lacking region wide. Procedures and protocols are being put in place for the safety and well-being of both our volunteer drivers as well as riders. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to be drivers for our transportation services. If you are interested in driving, please contact me for more information on becoming a volunteer driver for Mobilize Katahdin.
Volunteer training continues, and a virtual meeting via Zoom takes place twice a month on the first and third Friday of each month at 10:30 a.m. to give volunteers an opportunity to connect, share ideas, offer feedback and to support one another. Volunteers, we will use the same Zoom link for all volunteer trainings and meetings. You can bookmark it for later or you can always find it here if you need it: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89946559883
What We Accomplished Last Week . . .
- We continue to collaborate with local agencies, and to support one another by sharing information regarding available resources so we are better able to meet the needs of our residents, as well as reinforce our collaboration efforts.
- Through a collaboration with Thrive Penobscot, Katahdin Collaborative, Katahdin Area Chamber of Commerce and Millinocket Regional Hospital, we are working on a face mask initiative to offer free face masks to anyone in need of a mask in the Katahdin region.
Spread the word to your friends, family and neighbors to contact Mobilize Katahdin with any request for assistance they may have, like and share us on Facebook, call us at (207) 370-1581 or visit our website for up-to-date information or to donate to our fund. We look forward to making a difference with your continued support.
Thanks so much,
